- Anthropic(Claude):生成 AI 回答。
(Office of the Australian Information Commissioner,oaic.gov.au)投诉。

Privacy
NewBee AU is an unofficial website that explains Australian government services in plain language. We collect only what we need to run the service.
If you don’t sign in
- Your questions: questions you ask the AI are logged anonymously (the question text, the first part of the AI’s answer (up to 800 characters), which guides were used, response time and cost) so we can spot weak answers and improve the guides. The log does not contain your name or email; if you’re not signed in, we keep only the last two parts of your IP address (for example *.*.12.34) and the country it points to (for example Australia), never the full address. Emails, ID numbers and any phone number you typed in your question are removed from the answer excerpt. Please don’t include passport, TFN or bank account numbers in your questions, or the names and contact details of other people such as family members, landlords or employers.
- Saved on your device: your chosen situation, what the AI remembers, and your theme and language preferences are stored only in your browser (localStorage). The current conversation is kept only in the current tab and is cleared when you close it.
- Abuse prevention: the server temporarily rate-limits questions by IP address. Full IP addresses are not written to the log.
- Answer share pages: when you tap “Create share page”, we save the question and the full AI answer as a public web page (au.newbee.one/s/…) that anyone with the link or QR code can see. Emails, ID numbers and any phone number you typed in your question are removed first, and share pages are hidden from search engines. You can delete the page from the device that created it at any time; it is deleted automatically after 12 months. We only count how many times each share page is opened. A share page you create while signed in is linked to your invite code (random letters — not your name or email, and not shown on the page), so a friend who opens it and then signs up with Google counts as your invite.
- Messages and error reports: when you leave a message on our About page (/en/about/#contact), we keep the message, the page you mention, the contact details you choose to give (optional), the last two parts of your IP address and the country it points to. We use them only to check and fix our guides and to reply to you. Leave the contact field empty if you don’t want a reply.
- Visit counts: to count daily visitors we keep an anonymous ID that is valid for one day only (a one-way hash of your IP address and browser details) and changes the next day. We don't store IP addresses and can't recognise the same person across days.
- Free question allowance: to keep track of how many free questions this browser has left, we set a site-only cookie (nb_did, a random ID that lasts 400 days). Our server stores only a hash of it, the number of questions left and a record of each change. It is used only to count questions — not for visitor statistics or tracking. To stop people clearing cookies to get more free questions, we also count free questions per day against a hash of the day’s IP address, and delete these counts after 2 days.
If you sign in with Google
- Google shares with us your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture link. We never access your Gmail, contacts or any other Google data.
- We store your situation (e.g. “Work visa”) and what the AI remembers (e.g. “child is 8”) in your account so they follow you to other devices. We do not store your questions and answers in your account.
- Your sign-in is kept in a secure, site-only cookie (nb_sid) for 60 days; we store only a hash of it. A second cookie (nb_in=1) contains no information — it just tells guide pages that you’re signed in, so they can show whether you’ve saved the guide.
- Saved guides: guides and checklists you save (only the guide ID and the time you saved it) are kept in your account. You can see and remove them on the “My profile” page, and they are deleted with your account.
- Questions and invitations: we record your question allowance (left, used and each change), your invite code, how many people signed up through your link (stored only as anonymous IDs), and any beta application you send (including what you wrote about how you use NewBee AU). So that people can’t delete their account and sign up again to get the sign-up allowance twice, we keep a one-way anonymous ID derived from your Google account ID after you delete your account.
- Questions you ask while signed in carry an anonymous user ID in the question log (a one-way hash of your Google account ID, with no email address) so we can count usage. Our admin view only shows masked email addresses (e.g. x****r@g****.com) and never names or photos. Once you delete your account, that ID can no longer be linked to you.
Who processes this information
- Cloudflare: website hosting and database (account data is stored in Cloudflare D1).
- Anthropic (Claude): generates the AI answers. Your question, the conversation so far and your situation/remembered details are sent to it to produce each answer.
- Google: only for “Sign in with Google”.
These providers process and store information outside Australia (mainly in the United States). We use them only as service providers acting for us, not for their own purposes. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.
We don’t sell or rent your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- AI question log: after 180 days, the question text, answer excerpt, partial IP address, its country and anonymous IDs are automatically cleared. Only statistics such as the date, guides used and cost are kept.
- Messages: automatically deleted after 12 months.
- Daily visitor IDs and sign-in records: automatically deleted after 13 months.
- Accounts: accounts with no sign-in for 24 months are automatically deleted, together with their profile, sessions, saved guides, question allowance, invite code and beta applications. You can also delete yours at any time.
- Free question allowance: records for browsers that aren’t signed in are deleted after 13 months without use; daily counts by IP hash are deleted after 2 days.
Seeing and deleting your data
- On the “My profile” page you can view, change or delete your situation and what the AI remembers.
- When signed in, “Delete my account and data” on the “My profile” page permanently deletes your account, profile and all sign-in sessions immediately.
- Signing out also clears the profile from that device.
Your rights and how to contact us
- Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 generally does not apply to small operators with an annual turnover under A$3 million, but we follow its Australian Privacy Principles voluntarily: you can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you. The website operator is our privacy officer — contact us through the message form on our About page and include a way to reply. We will respond within 30 days.
- If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
- If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Information Commissioner and the people affected, following the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
